At the heart of OpenPlanning is a robust, intuitive modelling tool which faithfully replicates an organisations’ individual planning, budgeting and forecasting processes. Models can be built rapidly because there is no need to input complicated formulas. This by itself represents a huge potential time saving compared to working in Excel. Data can be pulled into the model directly from existing back office systems – including account codes and sub-codes - ensuring data integrity. The back office systems may belong to any of the well known brands such as Advanced Business Solutions, Agresso, Sage or Oracle.

OpenPlanning is multi-dimensional so that users can “slice and dice” their data and analyse it across any or all of their dimensions. Users can also test a variety of scenarios using flexible “what if” features to validate their decisions. During the plan building phase, an unlimited number of versions can be stored and modelled by users before submitting a final contribution for consolidation. As the data is stored in a single database, only one version of the truth can exist and this is available at any time to all users.
